Eastlake History

Eastlake, as I remember it

I moved to Eastlake in 1987, during the final phase of our neighborhood. These are the stories I share with neighbors, new and old.

  • Late 1980sEastlake brings something South County had rarely seen: a master-planned community with a man-made lake, Beach Club, lagoon and Swim & Tennis Club. Buyers camp out overnight because each new phase costs more.
  • 1987We buy a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath Eastlake Hills home, about 1,800 sq ft, for $132,000 at a 10.25% interest rate.
  • 1989EastLake Elementary opens.
  • 1992Eastlake High School opens.
  • Early yearsLittle League teams play on temporary lots, including where the Eastlake Post Office stands today, until permanent fields are built in Eastlake Trails.
  • 2003EastLake Middle School opens.
  • TodaySome original neighborhoods have paid off their Mello-Roos, and I'm still here sharing Eastlake's story.
